Dorothy Hoeschen received her Bachelor of Visual Arts degree from Georgia State University with a major in painting. After graduation she worked independently in a variety of media and exhibited extensively through the 1980's and '90's showing a strong affinity for landscape. Her paintings are in the collections of Walt Disney World, Coca Cola Company, Cape May Cultural Heritage Commission, and the Banks Haley Gallery, as well as many private collections. In 2011, she decided to devote her time to plein air painting. She enjoyed the freshness and immediacy achieved with smaller paintings done in a two to three hour time frame because of light considerations. This way of working opened up a whole new world of possibilities and she spent much time exploring the rich landscape and history of Bucks County. She also had the opportunity to visit and paint in Alaska's spectacular back country. She continues to paint en plein air, but also has plans to create larger in studio pieces. Recent exhibitions include those at Phillips Mill, the Philadelphia Sketch Club and the Catherine Lorillard Wolf Exhibition in New York where she has won several awards.
