Larry Chestnut
Larry Chestnut is a graduate of Trenton State College where he received a BA in Art Education.  He has been a graphic artist, has given workshops and taught in schools, and is a docent at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts.  He has won numerous regional awards including a Patrons Award for Painting at the Phillips Mill Annual show and a Best in Show at the Monmouth County National Juried Art Show.  He lists American painters Edward Redfield, Robert Henri, Childe Hassam, Sargent and Homer among his influences.

Larry combines the technique of premier coup - paintings inspired by the scene directly in front of the artist and completed in one sitting with plein air painting to achieve spontaneity.

In his artist statement, Larry says "it is all about the process - the intellectual and emotional endeavor needed to be creative and productive. I am constantly being surprised by what appears on the canvas before me and that's what inspires me."
