"My oil paintings are inspired by ordinary objects and flowers conceived by developing ideas and compositions following a classical tradition using careful observation of light.  My paintings have a narrative quality and are meant to arouse the viewer's imagination and stimulate an appreciation of the fleeting beauty of these arrangements."  

Barbara is a contemporary realist who studied painting at the Grand Central Atelier in New York and also has a Masters Degree in studio ceramics.  She studied with portrait artist Greg Mortensen, floral painting with Michael Klein and figurative painting with Josh LaRock.She then studied sill life painting with Justin Wood who she considers her mentor.     

In 2019, Barbara was a finalist in the Art Renewal Center 14th Annual Salon.  She is a member of the Salmagundi Club, Oil Painters of America, American Artist's Professional League and Allied Artists of America.  Awards include those from the Salmagundi Club Members Show - Rosemary Brush Award, the Ridgewood Art Institute, and Allied Artists of America.
